Background Information

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere inside the body. It can be incredibly painful, and can take eight years to diagnose. There is an urgent need for increased financial investment into endometriosis research and better treatment options.

Andrew Horne is Professor of Gynaecology and founder/co-director of the EXPPECT Centre for Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis at the University of Edinburgh. He is a leading researcher in women’s health problems and has published over 170 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is Trustee to “Endometriosis UK”, on the Scientific Boards of the “World Endometriosis Society” and “Society for Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders”, and has co-authored a book on endometriosis for patients called “The Experts’ Guide to Treat, Manage and Live Well with Your Symptoms”.
