‘PhD Integrated Studies in Medical Sciences with Engagement’ presentations

The CRH’s Francesca Hearn-Yeates (Horne lab) and Grace Forsyth (Mitchell lab) are students on the Integrated Studies in Medical Sciences with Engagement PhD programme and their end of year presentations took place on 13.12.22

It was fantastic to hear research and engagement updates from them and the other students on this programme and see examples of the wide ranging and impressive activities they have taken part in.

This four-year PhD programme combines medical science and translational research with integrated and credited teaching in science communication, public engagement, patient involvement, data design and informatics, via established MSc courses and/or new Engagement for Impact courses.

The vision is to teach a generation of researchers equipped to address and solve real-world problems through excellent science and who have the engagement and impact skills to give them an edge in their future careers.

Francesca and Grace spoke about their research, the CRH engagement work they’ve been involved with over 2022 (including school activity, science festivals, podcasts and stage shows) and their aspirations for future activity.

Well done on all your hard work – it was amazing to see the growth of confidence and hear about the different ways in which they have benefited from being on this PhD programme.
