Who can take part?

This page explains who can take part in the study.

You and your baby are invited to participate in this research study because he or she may be born early, or has already been born early, at less than 32 weeks.

Or, you may be asked to take part because your baby was born on time (or is expected to be born on time), so their information can help us work out differences in the stress and immune systems, and the developing brain, that are due to prematurity.

Do I have to take part?

No, it is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. We know this is a difficult time so take as long as you need, you won’t be rushed into anything. If you do decide to take part you will be given this information sheet to keep and be asked to sign two consent forms, one for you and one for your baby. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason. Deciding not to take part or withdrawing from the study will not affect the healthcare that you receive, or your legal rights.

We have a short video that explains who can take part.  Click here to watch the video without subtitles, or click here to watch with subtitles.
