RCGP Learning

Learning Resource for General Practitioners

RCGP provide a 30 minute e-Learning course to promote awareness of the symptoms of endometriosis. Using the NICE guidance as a key reference, investigation and treatment are discussed as well as when to refer to secondary care. A case study illustrates common issues with diagnosis and treatment, from early presentation in the teens through to later life, fertility issues and subsequent surgery.

The course is free to RCGP members and other healthcare professionals in the UK.

Reference books

Endometriosis.org lists useful reference books. The Giudice, Healy, and Evers' reference book listed on this page is particularly comprehensive.

The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) has an Educational Series on Women’s Health Issues, including on "Diagnosis and Management of Endometriosis: Pathophysiology to Practice", which includes a 51-page Monograph and additional resources. You can access this by navigating to the APGO Member Resources, selecting the Educational Series on Women’s Health Issues, and creating a free account.

A book by pain specialist Dr Ooi-Thye Chong which bridges the divide between Chinese medicine acupuncture and biomedicine treatments was published in 2023: "Acupuncture for Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women”.
